Saturday - May 23

I am doing much better. I have now lost a total of 7.50 pounds and my blood sugar has been in normal range for the past week running in the 90's . Yesterday it was 87. So things are much better. It is still a very hard thing to know what to eat but I go to St. Marys on Wednesday for an assessment and hopefully they will help me understand what I am to eat etc. The things I miss most are potatoes and bread. I am eating about one slice of whole grain bread a day but no potatoes. I also cut out all of my sweets which is not bothering me as much as the bread and potatoes. Everything I think of I have always had with potatoes. Steak & potatoes, meatloaf and potatoes, chicken and potatoes or potato salad, hamburger and french fries. So it goes on and on. I can't substitute it with rice or macronni or any kind of pasta because that is just as bad. But I am still trying and hopefully it will get easier.

Monday - May 18

Haven't written in a few days. Since I went to the doctor I have lost 5.5 pounds. My BS the last four days have been 91,93,99, and 103. So all of those have been in normal range. I ate a baked potato yesterday for lunch. First potatoes I had in over a week. Bread and potatoes have been the hardest things to not eat. Sweets have been no trouble. I haven't eaten anything sweet since May 5th. This is a sorry way to have to eat the rest of your life. I guess I can just think of all the good times I have had eating.

Whats New with Sue

Well it has been about 3 weeks since I've written anything. I went to the doctor on May 5th and the news was not the best. My wt was up, my sugar was up and my triglycerides were up. The only good thing was that my cholesterol was within normal range. So I started doing my blood sugar twice a day and watching what I eat. I am not diabetic but I am on the way if I don't do something about it right now the doctor says. This is the hardest diet I have ever tried to go on. I don't know what to eat. I have always been used to counting calories no matter what food I ate but this is more counting carbs etc. It is really hard. I am suppose to go to a class on it on June 3rd. I wish I could of gone sooner but I am going to be gone from home for two weeks and I have to wait until I come back. In the meantime every meal is a struggle. Should I eat this or should I eat that. It is crazy. So I don't know when I will be back on to report on what is going on. I guess when I get it all figured out.

WEDNESDAY - GAIN .50

Well I was expecting it to be much worse. I ate lunch at North Acres and they had ham, green beans, corn, roll, m. potatoes and a piece of chocolate cheese cake.

Then I went to the jewerly party and Denver had the little roll up bacon and wieners, chips, p. cheese on buns, veg. tray, fruit tray, cookies etc. I really didn't eat a lot and ate no sweets but it was still more than I needed.

Then the worse thing was that Barbara brought a loaf of homemade sourdough bread straight out of the oven. Now that is my down fall. Sooooooooo good with a little real butter. So no wonder I was up 1/2 pound.

Tuesday April 21 - Lost 2.75

Good loss for yesterday but I don't know how today will be. I keep having all of these opportunities to eat. I have been invited today to go to North Acres senior gathering and Barbara and I are going so that will be an eating opportunity. Then tonight I have been invited to Denvers for a premier jewerly party and she said we would have lots of refreshments. So there you go. Then tomorrow it is lunch at Austins with the Hillcrest gals and supper at O'Charley's with June and Phyllis. We had to change our day this week. So it looks like there is just no hope for me unless I get really strong and have a lot of self control. I wil have to watch the Biggest Losers tonight for some inspiration.

Breakfast: cup of hot tea, 1 boiled egg , 1 piece of toast, 1 banana.

MONDAY - GAINED 1 POUND

This picture is what I had for supper
3 oz chicken, 1 C beans, 1 C carrotts, med apple.

OK.....This has gone on long enough. I am up a total of 1 pound since last Monday and I had more of an excuse last Monday because it was the day after Easter. Today I have no excuse. I have been on the internet exploring different weight loss diets and there are hundreds of them. But they all come down to the same thing in losing weight. Take in less calories than the amount of exercise that you put out. This has always been the way it is. If you only take in 1200 calories a day and sit in a chair and read all day there is no way you are going to lose any weight. I have got to move the head knowledge to the heart. I did find a diet called the three day diet that gives you a jump start on dieting and I am going to try that for three days. The foods were simple and I have most of them already. They stress that it is not recommended for more than three days. It is low in calories but what I like about it is that it is spelled out for you and you don't have to worry about what to eat. So here goes. Listed at the end are the allowed substitutions.

Breakfast: Black coffee, tea or water with sweet & low or equal (I am going to have hot English Breakfast tea with splenda in it.) 1/2 grapefruit or juice (I am going to have the grapefruit) 1 slice toast with 1 Tbsp Peanut butter.

Lunch: 1/2 cup of Tuna, 1 slice toast,(I will probably do crackers instead of the toast) Black coffee or tea with sweet & low or equal

Dinner: 3 oz any lean meat, 1 cup green beans, 1 cup carrotts, 1 cup vanilla ice cream,(If I go to the store I will probably do the yogurt instead of the ice cream) 1 medium apple, Black coffee, tea or water with sweet & low or equal.

You can use lemon, salt and pepper, mustard and cooking spray.

You can also substitute orange instead of grapefruit, tuna instead of cottage cheese or vice versa, frozen yogurt instead of ice cream, cauliflower instead of broccoli and vice versa, green beans instead of broccoli or cauliflower, beets instead of carrots, toast instead of 5 crackers or vice versa.

Anyway I think I can do this for three days. The menu is different each day but nothing that is real expensive or hard to get. I'll let you know tomorrow if I stuck with it today.

Well I did stick with it today. Besides the plate at the top of the picture, I also had the cup of vanilla ice cream. So far it has not been bad. The worst thing was the tuna I had for lunch. I couldn't eat but about 2 oz of it but I got some white albacore when I went to the store so it should be much better.
