Sue's Weight
I don't know why I have always been so reluctant to post my weight. But I am going to do it now. I think it will help me to keep up with what I have lost in total. On January 15th 2007 I weighed 175.25 I had just been to Dr. Byrd and I note that there I weighed 177 which was down 11 pounds since my last visit in October. Then on January 1st 2008 I weighed 181.50. Then on January 1st 2009 I weighed 198.25. Today I weigh 184. So I have a lot of work to do. I would like to weigh about 155-160. I have started to TOPS so maybe that will help me. That is about 30 pounds that I need to lose. I also need to lose it slowly because now I am becoming so wrinkled when I lose. I would like to be at 175 when the new year starts so that is 9 pounds. That is what I am going to aim for. Wish me luck!!
August 2009
I didn't write about my trip to the doctor but after 3 months of watching what I ate my AIC was 5.6. Also I had lost 20 something pounds. I can't find my record from that date.
Doctors Report
Well, it has been a while since I wrote on my blog. Had a busy summer and likewise a busy fall. Today is November 9th and I had a doctors appointment this morning. I was pleased mostly with it. I had only gained 2 pounds in 3 months and that was good. My AIC was 5.8 which was up from 5.6 but still acceptable. My big problem is my cholesterol. I am going to put the results on my blog so I can keep up with them. My total cholesterol was 214 and should be <200,>40 and the (bad) was 115 and should be <100. Actually except for my triglycerides they aren't so bad. He wants me to get some Fisol ES and take for that. I am going to do that since it is an over the counter drug.

June 5th, 2009 - Total Lost 11.25 pounds
I have now lost 11.25 pounds since May 5th. One month. My blood sugars are running normal but I am still having problems knowing just what and how to eat. It is so different than how I have usually dieted. But I am going to continue and hopefully beat this disease. I have went for the assessment and for an all day class on Diabetes and I have one more class to go to in July. We had one person there that dominated the class and discussion and I think it kept me from learning a lot that I could of had. I may make and appointment with a dietitian and see if I can't learn more that way.

Saturday - May 23
I am doing much better. I have now lost a total of 7.50 pounds and my blood sugar has been in normal range for the past week running in the 90's . Yesterday it was 87. So things are much better. It is still a very hard thing to know what to eat but I go to St. Marys on Wednesday for an assessment and hopefully they will help me understand what I am to eat etc. The things I miss most are potatoes and bread. I am eating about one slice of whole grain bread a day but no potatoes. I also cut out all of my sweets which is not bothering me as much as the bread and potatoes. Everything I think of I have always had with potatoes. Steak & potatoes, meatloaf and potatoes, chicken and potatoes or potato salad, hamburger and french fries. So it goes on and on. I can't substitute it with rice or macronni or any kind of pasta because that is just as bad. But I am still trying and hopefully it will get easier.

Monday - May 18
Haven't written in a few days. Since I went to the doctor I have lost 5.5 pounds. My BS the last four days have been 91,93,99, and 103. So all of those have been in normal range. I ate a baked potato yesterday for lunch. First potatoes I had in over a week. Bread and potatoes have been the hardest things to not eat. Sweets have been no trouble. I haven't eaten anything sweet since May 5th. This is a sorry way to have to eat the rest of your life. I guess I can just think of all the good times I have had eating.

Whats New with Sue
Well it has been about 3 weeks since I've written anything. I went to the doctor on May 5th and the news was not the best. My wt was up, my sugar was up and my triglycerides were up. The only good thing was that my cholesterol was within normal range. So I started doing my blood sugar twice a day and watching what I eat. I am not diabetic but I am on the way if I don't do something about it right now the doctor says. This is the hardest diet I have ever tried to go on. I don't know what to eat. I have always been used to counting calories no matter what food I ate but this is more counting carbs etc. It is really hard. I am suppose to go to a class on it on June 3rd. I wish I could of gone sooner but I am going to be gone from home for two weeks and I have to wait until I come back. In the meantime every meal is a struggle. Should I eat this or should I eat that. It is crazy. So I don't know when I will be back on to report on what is going on. I guess when I get it all figured out.
